Kantar released their Brandz report today, showing the 75 most valuable brands in India. HDFC came out on top with a brand value of $20.3 billion and was one of three banks ranked among the top 10.
According to the report, e-commerce retailer Flipkart was one of the brands which most improved its standing, growing its value by 40 percent. This led to the company climbing rank 8, ahead of PayTM in rank 9 (growing its value by a whopping 50 percent). Other brands that improved their ranking were Airtel (+36 percent value growth), Reliance (+102 percent, rank 25) and Zomato (+51 percent, rank 39). Indian tech companies could once again improve their showing in the ranking opposite more established brands.
Newcomers to this year’s ranking were personal care company Closeup in rank 69 with a brand valued at 663 million as well as home appliance maker Crompton (rank 74, $592 million).
